Most cultures, before plastic and even before clay, used gourds to hold water and serve as baskets and containers. I planted a few seeds a few years ago and now, I’m hooked on the growing and transforming of these elegant vessels. following in the footsteps of Graham at Gourdlandia (Ithinca NY www.gourdlandia.com), I plan to grow more and different gourd types to make lamps, bird houses, bowels and other beautiful, natural objects.
